Mykon’s guide to the best architecture and interior design events for 2020

With hundreds of architecture and interior design events, fairs, conferences and trade shows taking place in the UK throughout the year, it can be hard to choose which to attend. To help you decide, we have compiled a definitive guide featuring our must attend events of 2020 for your busy calendar.

But first a quick summary of the events Mykon exhibited at in 2019:

For both ARCHITECT@WORK exhibitions our samples were selected by Materfad, a materials library based in Barcelona dedicated to showcasing the world’s most innovative materials.

For the Maison & Objet Paris exhibition our samples were selected by matériO, a materials library with an international online database and showrooms across the world.

Architect@Work

Wednesday 29th – Thursday 30th January | Old Truman Brewery, London,UK

Architect@Work is aimed at architects, interior designers and other specifiers with a focus on innovation. The trade fair showcases a range of innovative products and features a set programme of short seminars throughout the two days.

Architect@Work focuses on a different theme each year. The theme for this year’s edition will be ‘Sensory Design | Acting Natural: new ways in which architecture and the environment converge.’

Surface Design Show

Tuesday 11th – Thursday 13th February | Business Design Centre, London, UK

Surface Design Show is the only event in the UK that focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces. It is a key event for architects, designers, buyers and specifiers who are looking to source products, network, gain industry insights and connect with innovative materials.

The 2019 edition featured 151 exhibitors from 15 countries and 5,071 professional and trade visitors from 47 countries.

Futurebuild

Clerkenwell Design Week

Tuesday 19th – Thursday 21st May | Various venues around Clerkenwell, London, UK

Clerkenwell is home to more furniture showrooms, and architecture and design studios than any other district in London.

To celebrate this rich and diverse community, Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area.

In 2019, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 34,185 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.

London Festival of Architecture

The London Festival of Architecture is a month-long, city-wide celebration of architectural practice and experimentation.

Birmingham Design Festival

The Birmingham Design Festival is a celebration of the local, national and international design industry.

Founded in 2017, the 2020 edition will return with a new format. The programme of events will run over two days and will see a curated series of events around the theme of ‘Colour’.

London Design Festival

London Design Festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community.

The Festival returns to venues and institutes across the city in September and is set to feature hundreds of large-scale installations, exhibitions and events pop ups.
