Taking Surface Design to the Next Level

13 February 2009

Mykon is a Cambridgeshire based company who specialise in innovative and design led solutions for the interior design and architectural industries. Mykon specialise in the manufacture and design of a wide portfolio of surface solutions from partitioning, panels, screens, doors, ceiling tiles, flooring and bespoke furniture materials.

Mykon, formerly named Cellbond Architectural was established in 1998 when the idea to use honeycomb technology to create unique, striking and diverse bespoke products specifically for the design and architectural market was born. As the company flourished, they were rebranded in 2005 as Mykon. Mykon are excited to launch three new product editions to their range at this year’s Surface Design Show:

Alucolite are aluminium skin faced panels making this versatile internal and external cladding solution both light and durable. Alucolite can be easily curved, folded and slotted to achieve any desired result. This can even be achieved by using conventional tooling. The panels can be finished in either a metallic or PVDF paint enabling them to co-ordinate with any proposed colour scheme.

Stratolite, which are a range of high performance stone, marble and granite composite panels are formed from stone sheets bonded together with a honeycomb and aluminium sheet backing. This results in the panels being lighter, easier to work with and provides sound and thermal insulation. Stratolite panels give a perfect natural finish for any external and internal cladding requirement, due to the way the stone is cut this provides an individual and unique finish that will compliment any design.

Ciottolli, are a distinctive range of unique stone and crystal glass mosaics. Mykons extensive range consists of an array of textures and finishes including clear and iridescent crystals. A wide colour spectrum is available enabling flexibility and easy colour match for any design requirement. Ciotolli really shines when used on walls, floors and areas such as swimming pools creating dramatic and sought after effects.

The focus of Mykons stand this year is demonstrating the use of Mykon materials with light. Light is vital not only in its ability to transform space but also due to the different appearances and contrasts it can produce. Mykon appreciate how valuable light is as a resource and, as a base idea for Mykons products, have used this philosophy to manufacture surface solutions to compliment this.

Visit the Mykon stand at stand number 18 and experience firsthand the potential effects that can be created with Mykons portfolio of materials, ideal for the forward thinking, trend conscious designer.
